Partnership with Swades Foundation

Under the umbrella of the HSBC Skills for Life programme, HSBC and Swades Foundation have forged a five-year INR 50 crore partnership that will directly skill over 30,000 disadvantaged youth across the country and indirectly impact and inspire many others.

Swades is the implementation partner for this programme, a key component of which is multi-stakeholder engagement in project review and selection. The programme will place priority on collaboration and coordination with sector experts and facilitate the exchange of learning, innovation and best practices on skill development.

Key pillars of the partnership

• Strong emphasis on partner selection and evaluation: Partnerships will be forged
with reputed academic institutions to create a transparent screening mechanism and   robust evaluation process.
• Multi-stakeholder engagement: An Advisory Committee comprising of eminent   corporate leaders and sector experts will review and approve skill development projects   by NGOs on an annual basis and provide key industry and sector insight to the   programme. • Focus on high growth sectors: The programme will initially support skill development   in 8 sectors that have incremental human resource requirements. These are Retail;   Transportation and logistics; Beauty and wellness; Tourism, hospitality and travel;   Electronic and IT hardware; IT and ITES; Healthcare and BFSI (Banking, Financial   Services and Insurance)

"We are delighted to partner with HSBC Skills for Life Programme to further economic opportunity for disadvantaged youth. It is a reinforcement of our commitment of enabling the youth of India to build a better and brighter future for themselves, and a step forward towards creating One India - an India that is not marred by the Rural and Urban divide".
