There is nothing that can stop a go-getter. Manali has displayed extraordinary passion & determination in everything she has done. Inspired by other Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) initiated by the Swades Foundation in neighbouring areas, Manali motivated women in her village to start one. She has been leading the Jhashichirani Women SHG as its secretary for the past seven years. She participated in a sewing course initiated by the Swades Foundation and today is running her own successful tailoring business. She also showed great entrepreneurial skills by setting up the first vermiculture unit in her village, which then became a trend. She was the first person to support the setting up of 75 vermicompost units in Mangaon block (Raigad) and sold 100Litres of vermiwash and over 800Kgs of vermicompost. The multi-talented Manali now lives a self-sufficient life and has grown to have the capability of providing education for her children, Pratiksha (15) and Ameya (13). She dreams of giving them a college education and is determined to make it come true.
