At the Swades Foundation, we strive to enrich the potential of agriculture by using new technologies. Living this dream are the farmers Sudhir Kavilkar and Prakash Raikar. Sudhir and Prakash, like many other farmers, faced water scarcity problems in the dry summer months. They, with guidance from the Swades Foundation, pioneered drip irrigation in their village thus ensuring cultivation throughout the year. This one step led them to enhance their livelihood manifold and today they earn much more than their peers who have migrated to the city in the hope of a better life.
Both. Sudhir and Prakash, also realized the disadvantages of using chemicals in farms and now have become propagators of organic farming in their villages.
Both Sudhir and Prakash have been recognised with The Shetinisth Award by the Zilla Parishad, Raigad for paving a way for upcoming agriculturists and promoting agriculture as a way of life.
