Two girls become inspirations to many

Manali and Avinita come from extremely poor families. Their parents are illiterate and did odd labor jobs to earn a meagre income. Despite all odds, both the girls managed to clear their XIIth grade. After their graduation, they enrolled for our training course in Food & Beverage and successfully completed it. Once certified, they were eager to get a job, and they started giving their candidatures at different places from Mumbai, Pune to Bhimashankar. A few months passed and none of the two secured a job. After having come this far, backing out was just not an option for them. Disheartened but not discouraged, they continued their struggle to apply at different organisations. Finally, both of them secured a job at one of the leading global fast food restaurant, Burger King in Mumbai. Their happiness knew no bounds as they moved to Mumbai to work. Their villagers who live a hand-to-mouth existence doing labor work were amazed by the girls’ accomplishment. But it was their ambition and willingness that made it all possible, and today after having worked at Burger King for over a year, they earn a decent income and have plans to bring their folks to the city. Not to forget, they have immensely inspired other girls from their community to complete their education and secure a good job.
Such is the power of skilling.
Thankful to our partners Australian Consulate-General, Mumbai, HDFC Bank & IL&FS Institute of Skills for supporting us with our skilling programme.
