Meet Gauri Krishna Mukne, the first girl in her Adivasi village to complete secondary school for which she walks 8 kilometres every day, despite much resistance from her community. After her education, Gauri with the help of the Swades Foundation implemented a Rainwater Harvesting project in her village. Gauri also took the initiative of resolving the alcoholism problem in her village. She also started the first Women’s Self Help Groups in her village.
Today. Gauri is an inspiring role model in her village and has established 2 Women Self Help Groups and relentlessly works towards resolving electricity problem with technical & financial help from Swades Foundation.
