Mahejabin was always shy. The Swades Foundations’ SwaRakshaMitra Training infused a sense of confidence in her and made her aware of the need to tend to health problems of women in her community before they become hazardous. Mahejabin became so attached to this cause, that despite her conservative background she went door-to-door to conduct surveys which identified women with problems related to vaginal discharge, pregnancy, reproduction and has encouraged them to discuss these delicate issues with the doctor, possibly for the first time.
She contacted the Khamgaon Primary Health Center Medical Officer, Dr Prashant Agrawal, and arranged a one-day clinic at her village for Anganwadi workers, women Self Help Group members and other key stakeholders. That’s not all, she also led the village to initiate an immunization program especially focused on pregnant ladies and feeding mothers.
Mahejabin today strives hard to fulfil her dream of a healthy and clean village community and works relentlessly to achieve the same.
