In India, 1.7 million babies are born with birth defects*. The data misses accounting for a large number of children and cases that have gone undetected in the interiors of the country.
Swades Foundation works with the district of Raigad and Nashik in Maharashtra to ensure children from 0-18 don’t suffer the long-term implications of these defects.
When pediatric health complications are let undetected and untreated, it leaves children to cope without 100% access to their cognitve abilities and physical capabilities. It affects their holistic development. It robs children of a foundation for a better and flourishing life in the future.
These children dream of a regular childhood just like others. They carry this hope for a better life, free from pain and complications.
It will help in the identification of pediatric eye deformity across schools and different hamlets across 7 blocks of Raigad, allowing quicker treatments of common cases of low vision amongst children of 0-18 years of age. Any delay in this often leads to incomplete childhood which significantly impacts their way of life, ability to learn, school attendance and eventually livelihoods and employment opportunities.
It will support treatment of the identified problem helping the child have access to their full potential. A lack of awareness about the treatment and the impact of surgical procedures or spectacles keeps children away from chasing what is best for their future.
A delay in identification or treatment leads to severe and life-altering outcomes.
When you donate, you ensure children have access to screening and treatment of issues like a squint, ptosis, need for spectacles, lazy eye, retinal injury, cornea transplant and even pediatric cataract.
Swades Foundation has ensured its supervision since 2014 and
numerous cases of low vision have been identified, supported and
treated at the earliest. Swades Foundation works to reduce the
prevalence of avoidable childhood blindness by providing
necessary medical support, surgical intervention and/or devices
and their usage as well as social-emotional support to
normalise their lives.
Your support will provide access for children in rural Maharashtra to quality Eye Screening and Treatments.
100% of your online contribution this month directly adds to the pool of donations towards pediatric care
